Course: Bold Love - by Dr. Dan Allender and Dr. Tremper Longman III
|
In Bold Love, Dr. Dan Allender and Dr. Tremper Longman III present a fresh perspective on genuine Christian love; defining it as aggressive, unrelenting and passionate. Rather than helping people merely 'get along' with others at the expense of integrity, the authors introduce the possibility of making a significant, life-changing impact on family, friends, co-workers and even enemies. The book will provide clinicians inspiration as well as a compass to invite others onto the journey of more effectively engaging with difficult people. Allender and Tremper shift from the Christian thinking of ‘passively being nice’ at the expense of love and full engagement. 'Bold love is anything but passive,' writes Dr. Allender. 'It is unpredictable, cunning and creative. It is a violation of the natural order of things. In many cases it will unnerve, offend, disturb or even hurt those who are being loved. But in the end, it will also compel them to deal with the internal disease that is robbing them (and others) of true beauty.' Allender and Longman do a great job of defining and equipping others to the task of full positive engagement, no matter the severity of the other’s pathology. This text will be most helpful to engage clients in their relationships, both healthy and unhealthy, to more boldly love. Educational Objectives
