Bio: Robert D. Margolis, PhD and Joan E. Zweben, PhD
Robert D. Margolis, PhD, specializes in the treatment of addictive disorders and has served for many years as the Director of Psychological Services at the Ridgeview Institute. He is a popular CE presenter and the author of many articles and book chapters dedicated to substance use disorders. Dr. Margolis founded the Colleague Assistance Committee for the Georgia Psychological Association and he has advised the American Psychological Association on professional impairment issues. Dr. Margolis received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Georgia State University and he completed a Predoctoral Clinical Psychology Internship from the Duke University Department of Psychiatry.Joan E. Zweben, PhD, is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in the School of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Division on Addictions and a recipient of the APA College’s Certification of Proficiency in the Treatment of Alcohol and Other Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders. Dr. Zweben is the founder and executive director of the 14th Street Clinic Medical Group and the East Bay Community Recovery Project in Oakland, California. Since 1979, these affiliated organizations have been providing psychosocial and medical services to substance use disorder patients and their families. These clinics and Dr. Zweben train a variety of health care disciplines in the treatment of alcohol and other drug dependent patients in the San Francisco Bay Area. Dr. Zweben received her degree in clinical psychology from the University of Michigan.
