Course: Boundaries - by Henry Cloud and John Townsend
|
Boundaries is the seminal text on getting one’s life under control. Evidence of this book striking a common human chord is confirmed by sales of more than 700,000 copies and the spawning of specific issue volumes such as Boundaries in Marriage, Boundaries with Kids and Boundaries in Dating. Cloud and Townsend compare boundaries in a person’s life to personal property lines that define the responsibilities and non-responsibilities of each person. They point out each person’s boundaries define who they are and, just as importantly, who they are not. The authors encourage the development of healthy boundaries to develop a healthy lifestyle. While Cloud and Townsend address theoretical issues in Boundaries, it is predominantly practical, replete with helpful anecdotes of everyday life. They provide multiple examples of how boundaries are developed and maintained or sabotaged. Realistic vignettes are presented for typical boundary issues with marriage, families, friends, parenting, work, self and God. Cloud and Townsend have used a Christian world view in navigating a psychological issue mental health practitioners must address with clients everyday. This book will assist the clinician with his or her own life and it will help them treat others. Educational Objectives
