Course: Spiritual Assessment: Handbook for Helping Professionals
David R. Hodge
|
Spiritual Assessment is a handbook that outlines five assessment tools that can be used to conduct spiritual assessments. David R. Hodge addresses the pressing need for clinicians to be able to conduct research based spiritual assessments by offering a “how to” in this concise, practical book. Social workers, psychologists, psychotherapists, clergy, nurses and others in the people helping profession will find the information contained in this book sufficient for them to explore their clients’ spiritual histories. Each spiritual assessment instrument is described in detail, with examples and case studies. The clinician will find ample data to equip them in the assessment process. The author describes various interventions in each description to empower clients with the facts gathered. We chose this book for a text because of its practical, hands on approach. Gathering a respectful understanding of our clients’ spiritual worldviews builds a deeper dimension into the therapeutic hour. It provides a resource for clinicians to plug into and offer to their clients practical ways to utilize spirituality as a resilient strength. Educational Objectives
