The following state licensure boards accept continuing education credits from ASWB, and NBCC approved sponsors:

Approval by States for: Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC) and Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC)

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah,Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming.

If your state is not listed e.g., North Carolina, etc, then it may be because the North Carolina MFT Licensure Board (and a few others) does not pre-approve continuing education courses or providers. Therefore, North Carolina LMFT’s just be mindful that the courses they take need to: “by title and content deal with marriage and family therapy practice andtherapeutic issues, ethics and supervision of marriage and family therapy”. [It appears most of the courses on this site should be good for North Carolina LMFT’s and other license types where state boards do not pre-approve]

Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) as an authorized provider of CE by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB)

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. (Tennessee and Idaho do not pre-approve CE courses, licensees must use judgement and board guidelines to determine applicability to professional development, presenters need to be at the same education level or higher. Kansas is similar however, CE from programs pre-approved by the BSRB are approved. It is NOT mandatory that CE providers hold pre-approval from the BSRB.
Canada: Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labradore, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan.
