In this book (2nd edition), Dr. Albert J. Bernstein helps us spot the 'vampires' in our lives. He illustrates their strategies and their language to get control over our lives. He says, 'It's not your blood they drain, it's your emotional energy.' Dr. Bernstein will help you and your clients see the self-serving Narcissists, hedonistic Antisocials, exhausting Paranoids, or over-the-top drama queens. He shares valuable advice, psychological perspectives, and much needed humor as he gives clinicians a range of defense strategies that will keep the blood-sucking creatures of darkness from draining them dry. Clinicians can easily modify his approach to help their clients be more assertive with those crossing their boundaries-draining them dry. This course is based on the 2nd edition (2012), of this well received book.

Educational Objectives

  • Incorporate the author's Emotional Vampire Checklists both to help clients recognize specific behaviors on the checklist that relate to their own underlying personality characteristics and to help clients recognize emotionally draining people in their lives.
