This book fully illuminates the science and practice of prevention. It includes practical guidance and information for developing, implementing, and evaluating prevention interventions in different settings and across the life span. The book takes a multidisciplinary approach that is relevant to students, professionals, practitioners, and researchers across different disciplines including psychology, health sciences, education, social work, and public policy. The newly approved American Psychological Association Guidelines for Prevention in Psychology are incorporated into the book.

• Discuss with colleagues, clients and students the American Psychological Association's, 'Guidelines for Prevention in Psychology'.
• Provide recommendations for developing, implementing, and evaluating prevention interventions.
• Follow and teach 'prevention ethics'.
• Guide others in securing funding for prevention initiatives.

Bio: John L. Romano, PhD

Dr. John L. Romano is Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota. He co-founded the Prevention Section of the American Psychological Association (APA) Society of Counseling Psychology. He was the first recipient of the Sections Lifetime Achievement Award. He was principal investigator on several US Department of Education school personnel training grants to prevention prevent substance abuse and promote safe schools. He has received research awards from the American Counseling Association, and he is an APA Fellow in Divisions 17 and 52 (Counseling Psychology and International Psychology).
