Writing from a Christian therapeutic perspective, Gary Chapman, PhD, addresses fundamental communication issues which will help clinicians providing marital, family and relationship counseling. In this easy to read, bestseller, he effectively proposes that people speak five different love languages.

Those five love languages are: Words of Affirmation; Quality Time; Receiving Gifts; Acts of Service; Physical Touch. Much of the difficulty in relationships is that people are speaking and hearing with different primary love languages. The text will help clinicians and couples identify primary and secondary love languages (and dialects).

The text then outlines how to make progress at communicating in words and behaviors whereby partners hear and feel caring. Therapists will find this book helpful with clinical issues and the basic concepts are easily transferrable for community presentations.
