In The Mindfulness Journal for Anxiety, you’ll embark on a rewarding journey to stillness and self-discovery as you confront anxiety with pen in hand.
From breathing exercises to thought-provoking meditations, these reflections and prompts are rooted in proven-effective mindfulness practices for reducing anxiety.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the clinician will be able to:
- Guide clients into journaling with 'pen in hand' through thought provoking prompts, reflections, and centering exercises as they follow mindfulness practices proven to reduce anxiety.
- Discern which clients are appropriate for 'guided-journaling work' and chaperon them through the initial steps as they wrestle with unwelcome feelings, memories, and problematic thoughts.
- Present to clients the rational for guided-journaling and exercises, and the related research supportive of guided-journaling for anxiety.
- Explore with clients the many helpful quotes and reflections throughout the journal and demonstrate how clients can create their own anti-anxiety self-calming messages.
- Explain the universality of anxiety, its biological roots, its purpose and its self-hindering pathology when it goes unchecked. Conversely, discuss how biologically, emotionally, cognitively how self-calming mindfulness works.
- Reinforce clients writing (journaling) their thoughts, feelings, and creative expression. Reinforce their successes in writing and increased emotional calmness and relaxation behaviors.
